Welcome to the 2010 season, our 30th year on Magazine Street in uptown New Orleans!
This year is extra special for us because we are now the home of the World Champion New Orleans Saints! We've been trying to explain to both artists and collectors that the Saints are so much more than a football team. They represent the recovery of our city and the resilience of our people, a great metaphor for life: Have hope and faith, keep going no matter who tells you you are not a winner.
March 2010 is our first solo exhibition of the 30th season and it is perfect that Tinka Jordy is featured. She and I met a year before the gallery opened. She has developed into a respected ceramic artist whose large scale sculpture has been shown in the US as well as an invitational in China. Lisa was more recently commissioned to do a large scale bronze of one of her pieces for a public project near the University of Mississippi campus.
Along with our long standing artists, Bernard Mattox, John Oles and Curtis Stewart Jaunsen have joined the gallery since Hurricane Katrina changed our lives forever. Even though "Pre K" and "Post K" are a permanent part of our vocabulary we now have another phrase, one much more reflective of the spirit of our city: Who Dat!!!!
